A proper English Trifle is made with egg custard, poured over sponge cake that has been layered with fruit and soaked in sherry and topped with real whipped cream.
Or..........how about a pretty bowl, whipped topping, pudding (instant of course)...vanilla wafers...and a few bananas. Two adorable helpers are optional.
Trifle is an all time favorite. The layers of delectable goodness scream special occasion.
The definition states whimsical, and to me this dessert is just that.
It can be served for any occasion:
made the traditional way (Proper English)
or my way( Kid Designed)
2 tubs whipped topping (left in the fridge to thaw)
2 packages vanilla pudding, made according to package directions
1 large box of Vanilla wafers
6 bananas, peeled and sliced
prepare pudding, slice bananas, start layering.
No matter how or who does it, this combination sure makes everyone here happy,

It seems to me as long as you have the right Trifle bowl and some willing participants (or not), this wonderful classic can be ready to serve in less than 20 minutes.
